Pet rocks and spinning classes....

As part of the work I have been doing in the school garden, we have been decorating rocks to use as plant labels.  The kids had a ball doing this with some really excellent results.  I was looking after the paints here and Tom and I decided to do some more.  Here are the fruits of our labour...

It is very warm again here although we had a low of 6 mid week which saw me huddled up in 2 jumpers! We are now back up to a very doable 28-30 degrees.  This feels like the maximum heat I will cope with before I start thinking about the air con going on.

I have been trying to tidy up the garden here and have finally this week been doing the lawn.  I have also brought three lovely hanging baskets from a local farmers market which were around $12 each.  This shop has just changed hands and I spent a good hour there this week shooting the breeze with the owner talking about plants and about food in general.

I really am getting into the whole idea of not eating any processed food - well things like tinned tomatoes OK but there is so much processed food here it seems mad! I am hoping to do a cookery class (school within our lovely Market Street supermarket) all about super foods and how to get the best out of them.

I am really pleased with my hanging baskets and here they are in place earlier today...

Fushia's - not sure which variety and definitely not as good as my UK neighbour grows. Martyn very kindly always lends me a few for the open garden!!!

Here are some other photos of the garden today.  Spring has well and truly sprung here and I am still amazed to see Wisteria out in full bloom.  Interestingly, it is not always used as a climber here but s a shrub!  Must remember to take some shots of them to show you.

The picture above shows some of the seedlings I have been growing.  Unbelievably, I have never grown veggies from scratch so fingers crossed it will go well!!

This week I am writing my blog courtesy of HSBC Card rewards.  We use our credit cards all month and pay them off by the end and earn lots of lovely points which we can exchange for vouchers.  This month we got a nearly free Toshiba net book - here it is.

I have started to try and get back into a vibe/spin routine as I do really enjoy it.  I fell off the wagon in February/March as I wasn't quite feeling 100% but now am better fingers crossed .  I love the vibe classes here.  They must have something like 60-80 bikes and a huge studio.  It is mad in the fact that people whoop and yell out through out - a bit like they have tourettes but they work you hard against different zones - some fat burning and others sugar burning.  It's like a one hour journey up and down hills and doing sprints to win a race.  These guys do such a fine job of the classes that I always feel I have had a really good workout!!  Not to seem like too much of a weirdo I sneakily took some photos on my phone.

Well, that's about it for now.  I need to transplant my seedling and continue with the garden clear up.  The boys are in the pool with some friends and Steve is supervising - aka - lying on a lounger in the sun!  We are off out to a great pizza place tonight with the boys but suspect we may go out late.  It's a byo so I suspect we will head off to Market Street first to pick up a really good bottle of red wine.

Next week is a busy one for me with a school trip and various coffees/lunch out and PTA meetings.  We have our old neighbours from the apartment coming on Saturday for a BBQ along with our new neighbours here.  Should be good - I will of course be doing a Newlyns BBQ special for any of you who have experienced one of those!!

Then on Monday 11th little miss Laura Solomon is here for 11 days!!!  Our first guest from the UK - can't wait to nag at her!!!!

Final thought is I would like to wish big brother Simon a very happy 46th birthday!!!  I hope the band is good and that you have a great time in Bruge!!

Take care and love to you all, Becky
